For most people their bedroom is like a sanctuary, a haven that they retire to for some relaxation and comfort. Functional and intelligent lighting techniques can be used in a bedroom to create a calm and serene atmosphere. Ambient lighting should reach all corners of the room and the Installation of a dimmer switch will allow you to vary the amount of light required depending on your mood. Turn the dimmer low for a relaxing or more romantic mood or turn up the brightness when you're getting dressed in front of the mirror. Consider installing a light switch that is accessible from your bed, so you don't have to climb out of bed to turn out the lights for the night.
You can choose to make a feature of your central light by hanging a chandelier over the bed. Wall lights will create more space on a bedside table and are a great way to create extra light for those who like to read in bed, some even have their own dimmer attached so you do not disturb your partner while they are sleeping. Table lamps are also great for adding balance and light to your room, maybe add a coloured lamp shade to match your bedding which can be easily changed if you change your colour scheme. Touch lamps can be great for bedside as you are not fumbling around in the darkness to find the switch.
