Choosing the correct lighting in your home is extremely important to ensure you have the right kind for your different needs. Whether you want to showcase a stunning chandelier in your entrance hallway or simply illuminate a bookshelf in your study, creating the right ambiance will leave a lasting impression on everyone who comes to visit.
Choosing the correct colour and finish of light fitting or lamp is also extremely important. Chrome has dominated the lighting world for many years but the last year has seen gold start to make its long awaited return. There is also a great amount of antique brass on the market, this finish is a great option for those people who want to slightly modernise their lighting without having to make the switch to chrome.
When choosing the correct colour finish for any room in your home, we suggest you take into account:
Colour of any existing lighting you are not wanting to change eg: wall lights, table or floor lamps
Colour of any mirrors, picture frames, ornaments or vases
Colour of any door or window handles
Colour of fireplace surround
Colour of handles on drawers, cabinets, tables or wardrobes
One of the main tips we give to our customers on a daily basis when they are choosing the size of a light fitting is: It is better to have too much light in a room as you can always do something about this for example lower the wattage of the bulbs being used or fit a dimmer switch. If the fitting selected is not bright enough then a higher wattage bulb than recommended will cause damage to your fitting.
